SEGMENTS
NEWS NAMA
This is the
main news segment which is broadcasted at 3:00 pm
every Sunday containing news related pertaining to the country of Pakistan. The newscast is compiled
with audio insertions from world wide news
sources including BBC, VOA, CNN, FOX, ABC, Radio
Pakistan, PTV, GEO, ARY, and all other major news networks. News
Nama is further sub-divided into Sports News,
Cultural News, Local News and Financial News.
Depending on circumstances, LIVE coverage either international or local is broadcasted. News Nama has had its longest airing up to 1 hour in the midst of an earthquake in Northern Pakistan in October of 2005. There were live reports from Azad, Kashmir, Balakot, Islamabad, and Abbotabad.
NEWS VIEWS
This segment
is that of a radio editorial/column which covers any
issue in the current news of that particular week.
It is written and narrated by producer Saleem Syed every Sunday and
airs on Sunday after News Nama. Topics vary from
political, religious, moral, cultural to some times
local. The executive producers pick an issue and give their
opinions on it, describing the positive and negative
impacts. Although sometimes issues are
sensitive and become controversial, the team handles it with respect. A kind
of blunt commentary makes this segment very popular
and interesting among the audience. News Views is
always followed by a song or bit, generally making an articulating correlation to the issue discussed. The listeners are asked to give
feedback about the issue discussed through the next segment AAP KI RAEY.
AAP KEE RAEY
This segment
directly follows News Views. Once the News
Views is done, listeners are asked to give their
point of view on the subject through LIVE call-ins.
Callers do not have to agree with the opinion given
in the News Views. Callers agree and
disagree even with each other but in a civilized manner and that is the beauty of this
segment sometimes even anonymously. This segment provides them an opportunity to
express their feelings openly about political
parties, Pakistani government, American
administration, against different systems, domestic
and world politics. Keeping in mind that politics is the most popular
area of interest for Pakistanis, Aap Kee Raey (Your Opinion) is important to us.
ADABI
WORKSHOP
As its name
tells, this poetry segment is presented by Radio Young Trang through various poets prominent in the United States and from overseas commonly Pakistan or India. The goal of this
segment is to provide an outlet to all kinds of literary talent,
famous or infamous. There are no restrictions on the
language of the literature either i.e. Sindhi,
Gujrati, Punjabi or English. The main idea behind it is
to promote traditional Pakistani culture through its literary aspects and integrate it into the generation which was born and raised here in the West. Archives can be found on website.
ISLAM AUR
MODERN DUNYA
In this segment, Islamic religious topics and their effect on today's society can be discussed in a conservative manner yet without becoming extremism. By using every day examples told and/or quoted by real life Scholars, Imams, or Clerics, the listeners are able to understand Islamic applications when compared to other religious beliefs. Also been labeled a "relgious comparative study segment", the young generation is exposed to Quranic references quoted in
English and formatted in Urdu as well. Archives can be found on website.
LIVE
INTERVIEWS
Interviews are scheduled the week before the show. In any other case, if there is an special event, executive producers do an
interview of the participating performers, artist, player and or politician, either from
Pakistan, India, or any other city of USA.
If in studio, our audience calls and greets. There may or may not be a minor LIVE performance and/or speech on air. A few of our interviewees are listed in the ABOUT US
section. Interviews are sometimes an unscheduled
surprise part of our live broadcast as they can be unpredictable. During interviews, insertions and clips of previous performances/speeches make the process
more interesting. Recorded interviews
are compiled under archives on website.
